Andrew Nugent

Defense attorney Andrew Nugent brings sharp strategic judgment and meticulous preparation to every matter he handles at The Nieves Law Firm. Andrew earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from UC Santa Barbara, complemented by graduate-level studies at the University of Delhi in India. He went on to complete his Juris Doctor at the University of San Francisco School of Law and passed the California Bar Exam in July 2025.

During his time as a certified law clerk at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California, Andrew gained meaningful insight into how federal prosecutors construct their cases, a perspective he now leverages to build powerful defense strategies. His work included drafting motions, appearing in federal court, successfully arguing a jurisdictional issue, and assisting with trial preparation. He also served clients through the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, providing guidance on housing, consumer protection matters, and public benefits.

A multicultural upbringing and fluency in multiple languages give Andrew a natural ability to connect with clients from a wide range of backgrounds. He approaches each case with both analytical rigor and genuine curiosity about the individual behind the charges, ensuring that personalized understanding and careful preparation guide every step of his advocacy.

Outside the courtroom, Andrew enjoys weightlifting, meditation, exploring museums and new places, and spending time with his loved ones.
