Fatima Ortiz

Fatima Rodriguez Ortiz brings a strong academic foundation and deep commitment to social justice to her work at The Nieves Law Firm. Born in Mexico City and raised in Oakland, California, she grew up surrounded by rich cultural diversity as well as the social and systemic challenges that many underserved communities face. These experiences shaped her desire to advocate for others and to ensure that people feel heard, supported, and informed, especially when navigating complex legal systems.

Fatima holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Merced, and a Paralegal Certificate from UCLA. Her academic path has given her a nuanced understanding of the intersection between law, society, and public policy, with a particular focus on how legal systems impact marginalized communities.

Her commitment to service extends beyond the classroom. While volunteering at UC Berkeley, Fatima provided administrative and general support, further developing her organizational skills and her ability to assist others with professionalism and care. Through both her volunteer work and her own experience navigating legal and social systems, she has seen firsthand how critical access to information, guidance, and support can be during difficult times.

Fatima plans to pursue a Juris Doctorate with a focus on Criminal Law and Immigration Law. Her long-term goal is to use her education and professional experience to serve her community and contribute to efforts that promote fairness, access, and justice. At The Nieves Law Firm, she is dedicated to helping clients feel respected, informed, and supported at every step of their legal journey.
