2021 Rising Champion Award
In honor of International Day of the Girl on 11 October, we have created the Rising Champion Award to contribute to UNICEF’s mission of empowering females around the globe. Each year, UNICEF selects a theme for the day, this year the theme, “My Voice, Our Equal Future”, is about listening to the experiences and needs of young women. We believe that empowered women empower women and there is nothing better than recognizing the achievements of young women who use their voices to champion for equality and global change.
We have created the Rising Champion Award to be part of this positive change. As a woman owned criminal defense firm, The Nieves Law Firm, APC, is committed to advocating for equality in and outside of the courtroom. This includes using our voice to stand against inequities and biases that appear in our industry, our communities, and the world as a whole.
This award will recognize a young woman, between the age of 10-18, who promotes female empowerment and championing for justice. We are asking for your help in recognizing young women who have shown a demonstrated interest in, or taken steps to improve, the lives of others in their community. This could be through speaking, art, humor, activism, writing, volunteer work, creating or participating in a club or afterschool program, or even being a positive role model or example to others.
This nomination is not based on how many times you submit, but on your description of why the young woman you are nominating deserves the award. In your description, you may include personal experiences, why being a female is special and any adversity they’ve faced, how they embody female empowerment, how they use their voice, and the changes they strive to make. Self-nominations are accepted.
To submit a nomination, please fill out the form below. The winner of this award will not only receive the recognition but will also be awarded a $500 Visa gift card. The deadline for this nomination is October 11, 2021.
