Oakland native Yaneli Gutierrez is the Intake Coordinator and HR Assistant at The Nieves Law Firm. Yaneli grew up witnessing a lot of injustices, discrimination, and violence in her community. That’s why it was so important for her to start a career in the legal field. As the first line of contact with most of our clients, Yaneli does an excellent job of lending an empathetic ear to those calling with legal issues. In fact, multiple clients have contacted our team to let us know just how great their initial conversation with Yaneli was.
Yaneli attended the UC Berkeley College of Law Summer Legal Fellowship Program. It was there that she learned about the system of law and government through academic classes, legal exercises, and mock trials. This allowed Yaneli to develop strong legal skills that relied heavily on her leadership, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence.
Yaneli later graduated from Chabot College with an associate’s degree in Sociology (with honors) and continues to support her community through her volunteer work. She has previous management and customer service experience, which has contributed to her passion to help others who are going through a difficult situation.
In addition to her role as Intake Coordinator, Yaneli also serves as an HR Assistant, where she helps manage employee relations and supports the administrative functions of the firm. Her dual roles allow her to effectively bridge client needs with the firm’s internal operations, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for both clients and staff.
When she is not volunteering in the community or assisting clients, Yaneli enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and taking road trips.
